Ten Budget Baby Buys Under £10

There is so much stuff to buy when you are expecting. I think I spent an inordinate amount of time, and money, in Mothercare and John Lewis during my pregnancy and believe me you don’t need it all. So today I’m sharing ten of my budget baby buys that are both practical and pretty.

First up lets talk about those clothes essentials that you can’t be without. Vests, and lots of them. For that reason pick up multipacks in a few sizes and you can just fling them in the wash (over and over again). I rated the Marks & Spencer packs of white vests for their quality and Sainsburys was great for cute prints and sleepsuits at cheap prices.

I would also highly recommend a little cardigan for layering and this Mamas & Papas charcoal number is just gorgeous. It is currently a complete bargain in the sale.

Bibs are always a good buy, especially if you think you might use bottles at some point. Charlotte got these cute birdy print ones from Marks & Spencer for her new little niece.

Finally a hat. Yes, I am aware it is August but for those of you expecting later in the year a hat is an essential buy and I am in love with this soft grey acorn knitted hat from Mothercare. Uber cute.

Next it’s those essential muslins. You will need a lot. I promise they are amazing for everything from mopping up the inevitable sick to lying baby on when out and about. I’m a big fan of the bright prints from Little Bird and this three pack is bang on the budget.

We discussed changing mats a while back and I included this fab travel mat from Mamas & Papas. I am pleased to report it has been reduced from £22 to just over £8 so go quick.

I used a lot of cellular blankets with my girls as they were great for tucking over them in their prams or car seats as well as snuggling them under whilst we had cuddles. I can highly recommend picking up a couple.

You will soon realise how much storage you need for everything from nappies to toys. I always had lots of baskets from H&M to store all the “stuff” and I currently love this chevron number which is big enough to hold pretty much anything.

I am also raving about this peg rail over on Rock My Style today where I’m sharing ten interiors buys under £10. It’s super stylish and an absolute bargain £3.99 which would be perfect for hanging blankets, bags or just cute decor in your nursery. We may have stolen the idea from Jensons recent nursery tour.

Finally, I know a mobile doesn’t really have a specific use but I promise it will amuse your little one and give them something to stare at whilst lying in their cot or hung over the changing station. This super sweet elephant one from The White Company is a bargain £7.50 in the sale.

P.s the outfit in the header is NOT budget, it’s a gorgeous set from the M&S Autograph range and we have one in size 0-3 months to give away. Just tell us what your most recent budget buy is in the comments section for your chance to win.

I got some gorgeous baby grows from wonderlust at John Lewis at half price. They are a little pricey normally but ge quality is fab. They have zips instead of poppers and it’s a two way zip so makes changing nappies super easy. They have great designs and also the fold over hand and feet mits!!

I just bought some Little Lamb bamboo wipes in their sale for £5.99. They are so soft and so much more effective than disposable baby wipes as they really ‘grip’ onto poo rather than just smearing it around! Then I just chuck them in the wash with my washing (breastfeeding poo at the moment). I’m not creating landfill waste, not having to buy loads of wipes, and they are kinder on my baby’s skin as I just wet them with water when needed. Win!

Thankyou for the top tip on the bargain baby cardi, I’ve just order one in the next size up for my wee fella and another in a different colour. My best under £10 buy recently was a three piece set (joggers, top and jacket) from mother care sale for £6. We didn’t find out the sex if our baby before he was born so for the past 5 weeks he has been in neutral colours so it was nice to get him something more typically boyish.

I agree on Aldi for wipes and nappies – they are 1/4 of the price of pampers and just great!
There are some amazing bargains to be had on the high street, but also some incredible products and bargains to be found with independent and homemade brands – id love to see an article championing mum-preneurs and little independent etsy style brands that do the most amazing kids products. X
