I’m off to a masquerade ball next weekend with the girls to celebrate christmas. I have nothing to wear! What does one wear to a masquerade ball? So it got me thinking… What is out there in the world of maternity fashion for the festive period? We’ve found some beauties so if you’re stuck you should have just enough time to pop these into your baskets and dazzle all your colleagues/friends/family and be totally gorgeous this Christmas.

The LBD

How lush is this little black dress from Isabella Oliver. So chic. I love the shoulder detail. Something so simple can really make your LBD stand out. Our next little black number is this stretchy glitter long sleeved beauty from H&M. It’s not maternity specific. I always think it’s worth looking at the non maternity ranges because there are so many options that still work when preggers. Please can someone wear it with thigh high boots because it looks SO good. But back to maternity specific and a bit of lace. I love a lacey number at Christmas. This Mamalicious dress from ASOS is ticking all the boxes; great length, cute belt, lovely scalloped neckline. Winner. And the last LBD I’ve got for you is right up my street. A more relaxed T-shirt dress but still with a hint of glam with the lace inserts. And at £28 it is a steal.

Prints

Have you seen all of the lush prints in the shops of late! (there are so many lovely pj’s out there with gorgeous fabrics, but that’s another post). These frocks rock an excellent print and I love them all. First up is this swishy black and white asymmetric hem number from Hush. It looks SO good and so feminine. It’s non maternity but has an elastic waistband and because of the length could definitely be work above the bump. I love how they’ve styled it with the black boots and colour pop bag too. The green leopard print dress is also Hush (I have a thing for them at the moment). Again non maternity but roomy. All the roomy and multi functional… Stick on some heels for the work party and then throw on some tights and flat black boots for the pub. Winner.

We did a post on celestial fashion over on Rock My Style a month or so ago and it appears the theme is still going strong. I’m in love with this moon and stars frock from H&M. Another non maternity number so lots of wear to be had out of it post partum too. What about a bright pattern? You’re looking fabulous and you want to stand out. This floral number from La Redoute is perfect for that. There’s currently 30% off. You’re welcome.

And my final picks for prints are these two lovely tea dresses. The first is a velvet floral pattern from Topshop. I think it looks so comfortable and because of it being velvet it has that element of being a little different. And then polka dots because who doesn’t love a polka dot? This tea dress from ASOS is, are you ready for it… Only £20! so you should probably get this one alongside whichever other one you choose.

Colour Block

I’m so impressed with the variety of dresses in current maternity fashion. I feel like at the minute there is really something for everyone. We’ve covered super sleek LBD’s, fun patterns and comfortable tea dresses and now I want to look at colour block dresses that are more figure hugging so you can really show off that bump.

How amazing is this electric blue midi bodycon dress by Katie Piper for Want That Trend. Katie has designed all her pieces and being pregnant herself I reckon you can guarantee comfort. If you want a more subtle block colour you could opt for this nude dress from ASOS with super flattering top layer. That trim though. It’s also good post partum as it’s made specifically for nursing as well.

Now let’s talk wine. You may not be able to drink your favourite bottle of red at your christmas do so why not dress like it instead? I’m joking but I do love the colour of this wine nursing dress. It is so festive. And last but not least of my colour block finds is this off the shoulder number from Topshop. Imagine that with some killer gold accessories. Yes please.

Jump

I couldn’t not include a couple of jumpsuits in my round up. I LOVE a jumpsuit. Yes they’re a pain when you need to take a trip to the loo but they look so good. The navy polka dot number from Isabella Oliver is perfect for dressing up or dressing down. Imagine with a pair of lovely heels or a pair of white pumps. Win win. And then there is the black Katie jumpsuit from Boohoo with super flattering tie under the bust. This one also comes in red if you’re feeling particularly fierce.

A Trip To The Pub

Maybe you don’t have any big shindigs planned this year, or maybe you simply can’t be bothered because you’re feeling mega pregnant. If you’re keeping it low key, maybe a christmas eve trip to your local but you still want to feel a bit festive why not try something like this little combination. I have it on good authority that the New Look maternity jeans are really comfortable so you could try pairing them with a cute simple white Tee (this one has lovely shoulder detail – click through to see more as it’s not too apparent on the above image). Some rocking kicks like these leopard print bad boys from Next (I don’t know if you’ve ever had shoes from Next before but 1, they are SO reasonably priced and 2, the ones I’ve had in the past have always been super comfortable). And the piece de resistance… A sequin blazer. If anything can jazz up an outfit and get you looking and feeling super festive it is this. A staple for any wardrobe. This one also comes in a pink champagne colour. Just sayin’.

Festive Flats

And finally folks before I bore you to death I thought I’d share three festive flats I’ve found. The two black pairs are both from Topshop. The bow mules from Topshop look SO comfortable and let’s be honest. Well worth a cool foot I’d say. And the black sling backs would pretty much go with any of the above dresses adding a little sparkle along the way. And then for comfort and good measure, these Hush skaters are such a gorgeous colour. You probably just need to put them on your christmas list regardless.
