Gemma Flowers, as she’s affectionately known to the Rock My team, is one half of Passion For Flowers and co-founder of The Wedding of My Dreams. And today we’re lucky enough to be featuring her little girl Olivia’s nursery.

It must’ve been hard for Gemma to plan and decorate a nursery that would blend seamlessly into her industrial-style loft apartment but I reckon she’s nailed it. Gemma has incorporated so many sweet and thoughtful touches – from the driftwood hanging rail to the whimsical woodland animal prints. The result? A calming, warm space that is full of love.

Without further ado I’ll pass you over to Gemma to tell us more.

Our apartment is completely open plan so when we found out Olivia was coming along we chose not to move but instead have some internal walls built to create her a bedroom.

As we live in an industrial loft apartment, we chose a similar colour scheme to the rest of our home, so black, white and wood but with an accent of pink for our little girl.

Her chest of drawers are from Ikea. They came in natural wood but I painted them with Annie Sloan chalk paint to get the colour I wanted. These are great for keeping all her nappies, wipes and clothes out of sight. I created a driftwood rail for a couple of hanging items. She absolutely loves books too so the little cubby holes are full of her favourites.

We have a matching cabinet next to the chair which is useful for extra storage, shoes and blankets. The first piece of artwork I bought for her room was the bunny print from Daisy and Bump. This has followed a theme, as her godmother bought a matching thumb print guest book for her christening which hangs above her cot, and my mother in law painted the set of three woodland animal prints in a similar style which are hanging above the chair.

The nursing chair in soft grey was especially important in the early days, but now we use it for cosy bedtime stories. To add a highlight of pink to this area we’ve used a soft pink throw and a pink mix of cushions.

Olivia has recently started nursery, I love her little Cath Kidston floral backpack which we hang up on her wall.

To create an illusion of extra space I have hung throws on the far wall above the staircase.

The cot is from Mokee – she loved her Mokee wool nest when she was young, so I went back to them when choosing her cot.

For her first birthday Olivia had a little doll, which she loves, and the wooden pram is from My 1st Years. I thought she would put the doll in the pram … but she cries when the doll goes near it, so for now we put other toys in it!

The height chart is something we will keep forever. I love the fact we can move it from house to house with us rather than marking heights against the wall.

Olivia is lucky enough to have three great grandmas, and one of them spent over five months making a Noah’s Ark cross stitch for her room, something we will always treasure.
