We’re excited to share with you a recent baby shower styled by Forest Found for good friend and collaborator, wedding stationer Phylecia Sutherland. It’s just so pretty.

Beth at Forest Found created a gorgeous afternoon full of details that any mum to be would love. There are so many little details that you could take and incorporate in your own shower; the handwritten signage, the hanging lanterns and I for one think the massage oils would be most welcome. I’ll hand over to Beth to tell you more and hope you enjoy the inspiration.

“We love to gather people together in beautiful outdoor spaces. When asked to create a unique Baby Shower for Phylecia that contained all the elements of a Forest Found gathering, we jumped at the chance. We wanted the party to showcase all the wonderful elements of Motherhood in a stunning natural setting that celebrated femininity and the beauty of pregnancy.

Filled with luscious greens and lovely trees, Phylecia’s own garden was the most elegant location for the shoot. We dressed the entrance gate with a delicate green wreath of beautiful foliage’s and hung paper diamonds and golden lanterns from the branches of the Weeping Ash tree, which provided a center piece to the whole setting. We decided to create four distinct areas for the party that were signed posted with slabs of Yorkshire stone decorated with gold calligraphy. The four areas were called Rest, Gather, Restore and Feast.”

Rest

A restful place to sit, to be quiet, reflect and soak up the sounds of the wild. Mammas-to-be need time out from the baby-prep and a space to put their feet up. We wanted to create a place to be peaceful, full of soft warm textures to sink in to. With beautiful natural details of mossy greens and calming greys found in the contemporary cement planters and Icelandic wool blankets. This corner demanded rest. The vintage green velvet chair was the perfect shade and looked like it had grown alongside the plants in the garden. It offered time to curl up with a book or for cuddles with small bundles.

Gather

A central focus of any Forest Found celebration, the campfire is the ultimate gathering place where the best stories are shared and platters of Smores are devoured. We placed Nordic inspired blankets on vintage restored chairs to provide cosy seating and littered the space with lanterns and mugs waiting to be filled with luxurious hot chocolate. Tables and stools were fashioned out of thick Pine and Silver Birch logs as we sought to recreate a little bit of our own Scandinavian Wild.

Restore

Pregnancy is a feat of physical endurance and women’s bodies are in need of some serious care and love before, during and after labour! Our bell tent was framed by a garland of greens and filled with the most wonderful fragrances and oils to restore and pamper our beautiful mamma. Warming blankets, soft cushions in creams, silver and grey, smooth stones and sparkling crystals created a healing place as Phylecia and her friends prepared lotions and remedies to protect the new babe and nurture tired feet.

Feast

Our table scape provided a place to gather and eat. Seated around a long table dressed with an elegant eucalyptus garland and vintage brass candleholders, Phylecia was able to enjoy a Mexican feast with her favourite women before returning to warm themselves around the fire. A perfect outdoor celebration of all things Mother Wild!

Working with a range of of wonderful suppliers headed up by some mighty fine women, we were able to build a look that fulfilled our vision.
