Dinnertime. Possibly one of my favourite times of day for me but when it involves the girls it is often a nightmare. You may know from my previous post that Molly and Alice are slightly fussy eaters to say the least. This means I try everything I can to make mealtimes fun for them. One trick is to use an assortment of cute bowls, plates and cutlery to serve their carefully curated food in. Who am I kidding? It’s most likely cheerios or pasta!

Today I wanted to share some of my favourites for the dinner table with you all. Ideal for stocking up if you are just starting weaning or for refreshing those Ikea multicoloured plates and bowls (yep, we all have them!). I also think that children’s plates make great gift ideas for when you are stuck for a little present.

This melamine Arne Jacobson plate is a must for monochrome lovers. Plus, it helps your kids learn their ABC whilst they eat! There is also a matching bowl too or I love the triangular snack plate with different areas for different food.

Although not officially children’s plates I had to include these melamine side plates from M&S purely because of their epic neon colour palette.

This is kind of a cross between a bowl and a plate. Ideal for when you are weaning or your little one is learning to feed themselves. It has an angled rim to help scoop things up on to a spoon and when they are bigger you can just remove the ring and use it as a plate.

This 3 pack of Munchkin Apple plates are great value at around £5 and ideal for separating out different food types.

I love Bamboo tableware as it is so eco friendly but always comes in the prettiest colours. This range from Biobu at Molly Meg is just the loveliest bright shades and the perfect sizes for little hands.

We are big fans of Buddy and Bear here at RMF and you can’t go far wrong with a few of their cute deigns on your table. The plates come in an array of simple graphic designs from fruit to clouds. There are also sweet matching tumblers available as well.

You may know Donna Wilson for her quirky creature designs and clothing collaboration with John Lewis. During this hunt I stumbled across these fun designs of hers at Tea and Kate. There are also ceramic versions available which would make wonderful gifts.

The mix and match ceramic plates from Wee Gallery are all kinds of yes. Utterly adorable.

Hours of fun will be had with these funny face plates. Just pop the food on to create whole new hairdo’s and accessories.

Not officially a plate but I do love little wooden chopping boards that double as a serving plate. Rowen and Wren have a really sweet selection of designs from teddy to bunny that are perfect for serving up picnics and snacks.

I am never quite sure whether I loved the Moomins or found them mildly scary! Whatever your take I still love the quirky illustrations and characters on these Moomin bowls from Cloudberry living.

These Wee Gallery stacking cups and bowls at This Modern Life are just the sweetest. I adore the Panda and the Sheep designs.

I still have my Bunnykins bowl from when I was little and it was lovely when Molly also received one as a gift when she was born. They are such a classic design.

We have a lot of these Skip Hop sets. The animal designs are so bright and cheerful with a fun bowl and the separate sections on the plate makes them ideal for dinnertime.

I love the Maileg toys and this is a super cute set from The Tipi comes complete with bowl, plate, egg cup, spoon and cup.

To match our Skip Hop plates we also have the cutlery sets. They have really chunky handles perfect for little hands. My current favourites are the unicorn and hedgehog sets.

This little Moomin cutlery set from Cloudberry Living is super fun. Kids will love the fun characters.

If you aren’t sure about letting your child loose with a metal fork just yet then have a look at this melamine set from Arne Jacobsen in her letters design.

This pastel coloured set from JoJo Maman contains enough spoons and forks to see you through the day.

Kids will be kept amused whilst waiting for their dinner with these fun mix and match cutlery sets from TumTum.

Elmer the Elephant is a favourite in our house so this set would be a definite winner.

Oxo Tots do a really good range of children’s tableware and this cutlery set has a soft grip handle for little hands.
I can’t promise these will stop your kids becoming fussy eaters but at least your table will look pretty!
